March 2020
Good morning. I am making a card today that uses the Timeless Tulips stamp set and Tulip Builder Punch. The neatest thing happened just before I started to make this card. I was outside looking at the tiny garden beside my front porch and what did I see but my tulips have popped their leaves up! Coincidence??? no - just some mild weather but it was neat!
The card is white card stock 8 1/2" X 5 1/2" scored at 4 1/4". For a layering piece I used a piece of the Subtles 6" X 6" DSP in Balmy Blue cut at 4 1/8" X 5 3/8". I adhered this to the card front leaving an 1/16" border on all sides. I then cut a piece of white card stock that measures 3 3/4" X 5". When I was putting the card together, I thought that the plain white was too stark. To fix this I flicked a small amount of Pool Party Ink onto the paper. Then I started on the tulips....
The tulips took a bit of time for me to figure out but if you read on it is easy once you know what you're doing. I knew that I wanted a Daffodil Delight tulip in the middle. I used the large tulip and I stamped it in Daffodil Delight on Daffodil Delight card stock. I then punched it out. TIP Stamp the tulip on the left hand side of your paper this way when you punch it out you won't be wasting paper. When punching out the leaf stamp on the left hand side of the paper.
I wanted the other tulips to be somewhat 3D. I stamped a tulip and a leaf in Petal Pink on Petal Pink card stock and punched it out. After trying several different ways to get the other "petal" I came to the realization that you would have to stamp in on the underside of the paper and then punch it out to ensure that it pointed the right way. I didn't know how to do this as the paper wasn't see through! My mind is a bit slow sometimes okay - lol ;) I ended up punching out a leaf and making sure that it was facing the right way I used the tulip stamp to stamp it to ensure it had the petal lines. You just line up the right hand of the stamp with the "petal". If possible try to leave a little border like the punch does to make it match. I then repeated the process (much more quickly) with Poppy Parade ink on Poppy Parade card stock. TIP I would advise using a lighter colour card stock as the stamping shows up more. In person you can see the stamping on the red lightly but not in pictures as you will see.
To make the tulips, you attach one "leaf/petal" with a glue dot at the bottom being careful to line it up with the round punched tulip bottom. You the attach the other one in the same way. I then stuck in a mini dimensional about half way up the petal in the middle of the petal. If you stick it too close to the side it will show.
I then placed the tulips where I wanted them to be on the card. I stamped the stem so that it would go under the tulip. Then I stamped the leaves using the two smaller leaf stamps. I used Granny Apple Green. I then attached the tulips to the card. I like tear and tape but as almost always you can use whichever adhesive is your favourite. Try to place the tulips so that the stems meet them in the middle. I then made a small bow to attach to where the stems meet to appear as if they are a bouquet.
I placed the bow to see where I could stamp my sentiment. I used sentiments from Timeless Tulips for the inside and out side of the card. There is every sentiment that you would ever need (except for Father's Day) in the stamp set!
I attached the white card stock with the tulips to the front of the card leaving a 3/8" border for the DSP. I then attached the bow. I also stamped a medium tulip in the bottom left corner of the inside of the card. Don't forget the envelope as we don't want any naked envelopes - lol.
Hope you have a great day!
Mary
