Perennial Essence

September 2019

Good afternoon!

If you read my blog, you may remember that I made a card for my nephew's "Canadian Engagement Party". The family has lived in the States for the past 10 yrs. or so but they still have family and friends in Ontario hence his Mom and Dad put on a party here.

This is the card that I made for them for that.

I just finished making their wedding card using my favourite DSP Perennial Essence. When I showed my daughter the different papers she liked the back of one of them (Petal Pink wood grain) so much that she said "I want to paper my door in that" - lol!

Now for the card.

You will need a piece of Blackberry Bliss that is 5 1/4" wide and 9 1/2" long scored in the middle. You will also need a piece of Petal Pink that is 5" X 4 1/2"  for the inside.
You will also need a piece of DSP that is 5" X 4 1/2".
For the frame on the front I used the Rectangle Stitched Framelits Dies. If you are looking at the dies, I used the ones on the right or maybe a better way to say it is that I used the large ones. Anyway, for the frame using the smallest one and the third one out I die cut the frame using Blackberry Bliss. For the clear vellum I used the one in the middle of these so that I could adhere it without the glue being seen. I stamped the sentiment and set it aside to dry. It doesn't take too long.
I then stamped in Blackberry Bliss the 3 petal flower that comes with the coordinating Perennial Flower P
unch. I stamped 3 flowers on clear vellum and 3 on the Petal Pink vellum and embossed them with Clear Emboss Powder. TIP: heat up your heat tool for about 20 seconds and then the embossing goes very quickly.  I heat embossed them before punching them out as I did not want to burn my fingers!!!
While they were cooling off, I punched 3 leafs out using the Old Olive vellum and the leaf punch. I then lightly folded the leaves in half ( you can also use tweezers to do this) to give them some dimension.

I then stamped the Petal Pink inside using the small flower. To do this I stamped off first. I did the same thing using Old Olive for the leaves. For the middle I used full strength So Saffron. I then adhered it to the inside of the card.

Next, adhere the vellum piece to the frame. Adhere the DSP and then decide where to put the frame--for me I wanted to keep as many flowers showing as possible--this is why I put it on an angle. Adhere the frame with double sided teat and tape. Then punch the flowers and adhere them together - one pink and one white. TIP: Lay out the flowers where you what them to go before adhering the leaves so that you don't cover up the sentiment. Adhere them together and adhere them to the card front.

To be honest with the dark paper that I choose and the flowers that had the embossed dark centers it looked more like a sympathy card than a wedding card! That is why I put a Petal Pink Rhinestone Gem in the middle of each flower. It really brightened up.

If you wish to purchase any of the items I mentioned please go to my online store at stampinup.com and when they ask for your demonstrator you would type in my name. I have a direct link but for some reason it is not working -- augh.  If you have any questions I'd be happy to answer them.

Have a great day,

Mary
