Hello,
I really love the Playful Penguins stamp set and so I have made another card. We made this at our card group last week and everyone loved it!
This card is a Z-fold card and it uses black and grey card stock and black, poppy parade and white craft(pigment) inks. I used Bridal Tinsel embossing powder from Ranger as I do not have any from Stampin' Up as of yet.
You can see why they call it a Z-fold
card although this looks like a backwards Z - lol.
I used a 11' X 4 1/4" piece of black card stock and folded it in half (5 1/2") and then folded the top back on its self, making sure everything was lined up. This gave me two 2 3/4" panels. I took a 10" x 3 3/4" piece of grey card stock and scored it at 4 1/2", 7 1/4". I folded both pieces and burnished the folds well with a bone folder.
I stamped all of the penguins in black first. I
choose the two who are looking at each other for the front and the one who is looking up for the second panel.
Before I stamped the sentiments - just in case it didn't work out- I stamped the piece of snow(ice, ground) under the penguins grounding them. For the guy on the angle on the front I turned the stamp around a couple of times as the snow needed to be higher under his raised foot. I forgot to mention that before I stamped the white ink I used my embossing buddy. This is very important --I found out the hard way--lol!
I sprinkled the embossing powder on and if any ended up where it wasn't supposed to be I brushed it off with a paintbrush. Again from experience, I found that when you heat emboss powder with tinsel(glitter) in it, it is better to heat the card stock from the backside. When I tried the normal way I found that the sparkles flew away before they became embedded in the embossing powder. When I was finished, I did heat it from the top for a few seconds from double the normal distance away.
It is hard to see in the picture but there is just the right amount of glitter to it - not so much as to take away from the penguins, just add a bit of interest.
I used my Stamparatus - I can't say enough good about it!!!!!!! - to stamp the sentiments. They come out nice and straight. I actually placed the two penguins on the front on the stamparatus so I could stamp them both at once. You can mass produce cards so easily with it.
To adhere the card together, you adhere the small grey piece to the large black piece. With the dimensions that I gave you, you will have 1/4" on the top and bottom and 1/2" on the side. Before you press it down well carefully fold the card over to make sure that the large grey panel covers the small one. When adhering the front panel you only put adhesive on half of it as you do not want to glue the panels together.
Add any embellishments that you want but try to stick to the front panel.
I hope that you have fun playing with the stamp set.
