April 2020
Good Friday morning to all of you,
The card that I made uses the Timeless Tulips stamp set and punch and the So Very Vellum Specialty DSP from Sale-A-Bration. Sale-A-Bration ended at the end of March but I hadn't gotten around to using the free vellum yet. I was a bit hesitant because I didn't know how to adhere it without it being seen. After a few Youtube videos I saw how to do it and this is the card that I made.
If I do say so myself, it is very pretty!
You will need a piece of white card stock cut at 5 1/2" X 8 1/2" folded in half.
Two pieces of the Purple Posy Vellum cut at 4" X 1" and also two pieces of the Soft Sea Foam Vellum cut the same way. You will also need one piece of the Pool Party Vellum cut to the same dimensions.
Stamp the straight stem and the two smaller leaves in green ( I used Granny Apple Green). Fussy cut these out. I do not like fussy cutting but these were very easy to do. Then stamp the tulip that matches the punch in yellow. I tried Daffodil Delight but it came out looking orange.
I really wanted yellow but you could use any colour that you wanted. As I always say it is your imagination and your card. Be creative and see which colour you like the best!
So, because I did not have Pineapple Punch ink to try, I used Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink from my stash.
I saw various ways to adhere the vellum to the card stock and I didn't believe any of them because it would not work with regular vellum. With regular vellum if you use a glue dot or any other kind of adhesive you have to hide it with an embellishment or ribbon etc. I cut an extra piece of the Pool Party and tried out the techniques.
Idea 1. Put some glue on a silicone mat(it is so easy to clean up afterward) and dab a sponge in it and evenly spread a light layer over the back of the vellum. This worked perfectly and it did not make the vellum cloudy.
Idea 2. Attach the vellum with glue dots. The demonstrator said that you couldn't see them but I thought, yeah right. To my amazement you really could not see them and the vellum stuck very securely! This what I ended up using.
Adhere the top and bottom pieces 1/8" from all of the sides. I then eyeballed the three middle pieces trying to make them evenly spaced. With all of them leave a 1/8' border at the sides.
For the tulip I glued the flower on to the top of the stem. Before you glue the flower on make sure that the top of the flower and the bottom of the stem are about the same distance from the top and bottom of the card. Then glue the leaves to the back of the stem placing them where you think best.
For the tulip, I cut a foam strip in a little bit less than half (the stem is skinny) and adhered that. I had some dimensional squares that I cut in half for the leaves and I put two full ones on the back of the flower. I first tested the dimensionals to see if they would stick to the vellum and they did not so I added glue and they stuck perfectly.
For the sentiment I used the Everyday Label Punch from the annual catalogue. I punch out white card stock and stamped my sentiment and I also punch out a piece of the Pool Party vellum. I did this as I wanted the sentiment to be muted to match the card. I adhered the pieces together and then used the trimmer to cut off the top and bottom leaving just one curved out part in the middle. I cut them at the same time so that they would match up. TIP: Think about the placement of your glue dots before you cut as you do not want to be cutting through them. It is very hard to cut and will gum up your cutting blade. I then put a dimensional on either side of the label (don't forget the glue) and attached it.
I forgot to say that before I started attaching anything I stamped the sentiment on the inside just in case.....
Here is the card again
I hope that you are healthy and staying safe during this trying time -- and that you are not going too stir crazy!
