February 2020
Good morning! It is a lovely sunny day here with no wind. Hopefully some more of the snow will melt.
Today I have made 2 Mother's Day cards but they could be used as Birthday Cards, Just a Note, etc.
They are basically the same except that one is portrait (it is vertical) and one is landscape (it is horizontal).
I used the Abstract Impressions stamp set and the Timeless Tulips stamp set for the sentiment.
Abstract Impressions is just how it sounds -- abstract!! The flowers are not meant to look perfect and clean when stamped. They do look awesome though :)
The paper I used was Highland Heather and Gorgeous Grape.
The ink is Highland Heather, Gorgeous Grape and So Saffron.
This is what they call a "sip" card ---it only uses stamps, ink and paper.
The card base is 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" folded at 4 1/4" The card will open like a book does. The white and grape pieces were not meant to have such strange measurements but that is just the way it turned out. Ah, the best laid plans.... When you make your own you can definitely make your pieces to whatever size you prefer. Just remember to leave room for your sentiment.
So here it goes-- the white layer is 3 3/16" across the top and at the bottom it is 1 11/16" and 5 1/2" long to match up with the height of the card.
This is where your paper trimmer comes in handy. I love my new Stampin' Up paper trimmer!
The grape paper to go behind the white is 3 10/16" (3 5/8) across the top and the bottom width is
2 1/16" and 5 1/2" tall.
This leaves you with a border of 3/16" on either side. Attach the stamped white layer to the grape and then to the heather leaving a 3/16" border at the side.
This is a picture of the full paper trimmer and as you can see I preferred to use the bottom half to cut the paper as I could see both measurements more clearly and also if you are cutting the paper the opposite way it would go off of the top of the trimmer making it hard to get a proper cut because it won't lie flat.
Finally, the card itself!
I stamped off in Highland Heather for the large rose flower and then stamped at regular strength for the next largest rose. I then used Gorgeous Grape to stamp the detail on the rose.
For the smaller flowers I used So Saffron again stamping off for the large flower impression and using full strength for the highlights.
For the leaves I used Granny Apple Green, using the same technique.
I stamped the sentiment in Gorgeous Grape.
The lady that I was making this for doesn't like any embellishments. For someone else, I would put a small So Saffron pearl from the Share What You Love Artisan Pearls in the middle of each of the small flowers.
This is the same card only landscape (5 1/2" X 8 1/2" folded at 4 1/4"). It flips up to open.
I used the same colours just different flowers and added the butterfly.
This was supposed to be a quick post however it did not turn out that way - lol!
