January 2020
Good afternoon,
Today I made a card using the Painted Poppies stamp set.
Materials needed:
1 Poppy Parade card base 5.5" X 8.5" folded to make a 5.5" X 4.25" card
1 white card mat for front 5 3/8" X 4 1/8"
1 black card mat for front 5.25" X 4"
3 Poppy Parade for front 1.5" X 1.5", 1.75" X 1.75", 2" X 2"
3 white to stamp on 1 3/8" X 1 3/8", 1.75" X 1 5/8", 1 7/8" X 1 7/8"
1 white card for inside 5.25" X 4"
I scrap of white for the sentiment
For the sentiments I used the Timeless Tulips stamp set. Both of these stamp sets are in the mini catalogue. I stamped happy birthday in Poppy Parade ink and then punched it out using the Classic Label punch. It is easier to stamp and then punch as you can line it up perfectly! For the inside I stamped in black the rest of the sentiment and also the top half of the poppy with a bud on it. I used the small "splotch - dots?) in Poppy Parade over the bloom. When finished the inside stamping adhere it to the inside of the card.
For the card front, adhere the white mat and then the black. There is only going to be 1/16" around each mat. For the three red squares start from the smallest in the bottom left and work your way up to the largest in the right corner. I left an 1/8" border. When doing this you must leave the top right corner not adhered so that the middle square can slip underneath it. I then adhered the top square again with an 1/8" border and didn't adhere the bottom left corner again for the middle square to slip underneath it. The middle square is 1 1/8" from the top of the black mat and 1 1/2" in from the side. The three white squares are stamped as in the picture and the full bloom has the blotch stamp stamped in Poppy Parade. You will notice that the middle white "square" is a bit wider. This is so that it can go over the small stamped square and under the large stamped square. I adhered the stamped squares leaving a 3/8" border on the bottom and right sides. This means that they are 1/8" over the top. Start at the bottom and work your way up so that the larger square goes over the smaller one each time. They should overlap by approx 1/8".
I put three pearls in the corner to liven the card up a bit and attached the sentiment with black dimensionals. I love the black dimensionals!!! You can't see the dimensionals on the black card stock so it looks as if the sentiment is magically in the air!
There are so many possibilities with this stamp set. The matching paper Peaceful Poppies DSP on page 25 is totally awesome and there are so many card ideas I have to incorporate it.
I hope that you have had a good weekend. My oldest son turns 27 today. My goodness I'm getting old - lol.
