Hi everyone,
Wow. I knew that I had not posted anything in a while but I did not realize that it was this long!
I'm sorry about that. That is what happens when day to day life happens and I'm busy with workshops!
One of my sons lives in the Northwest Territories. The town in which he lives has 1,200 people and only one store. The store sells everything except the did away with greeting cards. If the people wanted any, they would have to drive 6 hrs. to Yellowknife(the only city). They can't do that however until the ice road is in over the river. As of now one can only fly in or out! Definitely NOT for me!!!!
Anyway...he said that they were having a craft fair and I should send some cards to him. He will be selling my cards and of course giving me the money made:) I made about 50 over the past months and my best friend who is an excellent card maker contributed about 12. If this does well, I guess I'll be making Christmas Cards all year long - lol!
Today I'm just showing some of the cards that I made. These don't use Stampin' Up stamps. I will show you those in the coming days.
This is one of my favourites. I guess that you could say that it is a bit rustic what with the burlap and buttons. I took off one of the strings of burlap to tie the buttons on with.
These are some from a one sheet wonder that I did.
These two were made with stamps from my friend. The sentiment on the inside of the bird card is "deck the halls with birds and holly". Cute, eh? (I can say "eh". I'm Canadian -lol) On the inside of the reindeer card is a stamp that says "bah humbug". I added a Ho Ho Ho stamp at the bottom to lighten it up.
My stamping friend lent me all of her Christmas stamps for a couple of months. I was so lucky. This is something that you can do as well. Share you stamps with each other and you'll get a larger variety of cards.
I coloured these with pencil crayons. If you get a blender pencil ($1 - $2 from Michael's), once you go over the image you won't see any lines which is especially good for the shaded areas. On one of them my son asked me if I had cut the picture out of a magazine and then put it on. That's how excellent the results with the blender pencil can be!
This again was using card stock that I had and putting the cut pieces on some gold foil to match the highlights on the paper. The sentiment and corners are gold heat embossed. I thought that the corner stamps (from the retired stamp set Angels on Earth) matched perfectly and tied the card together.
On this last one for today, I used my Cricut to cut out the "stamp" shaped pieces then stamped each one with the same snowflake and attached them with dimensionals. I put a rhinestone in the middle of each one, added some baker's twine and I was done.
As I said these are just some of the many designs I did. I also sent out my Spirited Snowmen (retired) that I posted earlier and of course my Playful Penguins cards. That is my favourite set at the moment!
I hope that you may have gotten some ideas. Don't forget to combine different stamp sets.
Have a great day,
Mary
