Cards using 3D flowers

Hi friends,

These are two more cards using foam and paper flowers. The foam flowers are from Dollarama and the paper flowers are from Recollections.

The first card is 6" X 6". I cut down the foam rose so that it wouldn't stick up too high and I also used a silk leave that came with it. I hot glued all of the flowers down For the left side I cut down some tulle from my stash and gathered it as I hot glued it down. Be careful not to burn yourself!!! I then glued down some shiny rose ribbon from my stash to hide where the tulle was attached.

Often when you buy paper flowers they come with the green wire stems attached. You have to cut these off (sometimes with wire cutters) before you can adhere them. For some added interest to the card I rolled three of them around a 1/8" dowel. You could use anything small and round. They look really neat!

The last card that I made is very special to me as it is for my nephew's "Canadian Engagement Party". He lives in the states and it has been a long while since I have seen him. He and my nieces where born and raised here but when their Dad got a job in the states they all moved. They still have friends and family here hence a "Canadian Engagement Party".

It is a 5 1/2" X 4 1/4" card base. (You can tell that is special as I made the picture X-large:) ).
I used silver metallic foil paper from Colorbok(bought at Michael's). I used the paper as I did not want the front of the card to be too heavy and topple over! I cut the paper to 5 3/8" X 4 1/8". the white card stock is cut at 5 1/4" X 4". I used foam roses from Dollarama. I had to cut about 2/3's of the bottom of the flower off plus some outside petals so that they would not look too big.
I wanted the effect of a rose trellis. I cut down some Chicken Wire Paper Elements(now retired) from Stampin' Up. If you have a die that leaves 1/4" spaces you could use that. I wove some Leaf Ribbon from Stampin' Up (item #146905) through. I attached this by dabbing some liquid glue onto the back of the trellis. I didn't put on too much as I did not want it to show. There were a few places where I had to use my fine tip glue applicator to go under the paper and put a tiny spot to hold it down. I attached the roses with a hot glue gun. One of the roses came with glitter on it and the other didn't so I put a couple of coats of Wink of Stella(love that stuff!) on the tops of the petals. In the picture you can't tell but in real life it shows nicely. After attaching the silver to the white I adhered it to the card base using 1/2" strips of foam dimensional tape. I put one at the top and bottom and three across as I did not want it to get pushed in at all while travelling --maybe a bit excessive but it eases my mind- lol.

For the inside I did use foil card stock cut to 5 1/4" X 4" to give it a bit of weight. the white card stock is
5" X 3 3/4".  I just adhered these pieces with double sided tape. For the sentiments I used my Cricut with a glitter silver Cricut pen. The same look can be achieved through stamping your words with Versamark, silver embossing powder and a heat tool. If you do this make sure to wipe your paper with the Embossing Buddy first. I actually got the idea for the sentiment from the Silhouette Scenes (item#149223) stamp set by Stampin' Up.




I told you it was special!!!!

I was going to say that this was my last "flower" card but I just went outside and the couple's lawn across from me is covered with 50 signs and a big sign wishing them Happy Anniversary from their grandkids. Soooo one more and then Stampin' Up cards.

Good afternoon! I hope that you are enjoying your Saturday.

As I stated in my last post, I have some more cards to show you that I have made using 3D flowers. With the first one I used a stamp that my friend gave me. I was thinking mustard seeds but I didn't have any. So then I thought caterpillars turn in to butterflies and thus the card was born.

It is 7 7/8" X 4 7/8". The foam rose, leaf and shiny 3D butterfly stick on are all from Dollarama and the smaller paper flowers are from Recollections. The flowers were adhered using a hot glue gun.

I call this second card I call my doily card:)

In real life the paper that I used is more rose than pink. I took the picture with bad lighting and now cannot fix it. It is a very vintage looking paper. The doily heart is part of the paper but the butterfly is made of a cotton material. The top wings that stand up are tulle and embroidery.It is quite lovely and it is from Dollarama as are the pearls. The flowers are all paper Recollections flowers. The paper is also from a pad of Recollections paper.

We can't have a naked inside so....

I added part of a paper doily and a strip of ribbon on the inside left hand side on the card and five pearls at the top of the inside right side. I like they way the pearls make the corner.

The third card I "love".

This card is 6" X 6".The paper, card stock and paper flowers are all Recollections. The other embellishments are from Dollarama. The tulle is from my stash. I gathered the tulle and added some pearl stamen behind the largest flower. This card was made before I started to stamp so I used a transparent word love sticker. I also edged the paper, the pink card stock base and the baby blue card in gold. I just used an ink pad and dragged it along the edges. It is very subtle. It looks lovely when you open the card and all of the edges are gold. I also added a thin piece of baby pink ribbon to the bottom left hand side of the inside of the card.

I cannot get a good picture of the last card because it is so cloudy here---again. Tomorrow is supposed to be better so I will try to get that up soon. In the meantime

Cards using 3D flowers

Hi friends. Another good rainy day to you:)

The following are some of my cards that I made at the beginning of my card making journey. I still do make some cards like this when I have the time. The card stock and patterned paper are all from Recollections as well as the smaller paper roses. The larger roses are from Dollarama. Those roses had to be cut down to half because otherwise they would be too tall. All of the flowers are attached using a hot glue gun. TIP: If you are attaching anything with hot glue especially on paper, it is good to adhere that paper to card stock and then to the card base so that the hot glue does not show through on the inside of the card. Any ribbon or lace or embellishments attached to the cards were from my stash.

While I love Stampin' Up's Designer Series Paper(DSP) there are times that I want to use some of my paper from other places. I don't think that this is bad because sometimes Stampin' Up just does not have the paper you want. I do love the fact the the DSP and card stock all match however. It saves sooo many headaches when you are trying to match colours.

I'll show some today and some tomorrow.

This is a 5 7/8" across by 5 3/4" long card. For some definition I took an ink pad and just swiped it along the patterned paper edge and also the matting. I used rose ribbon behind the green lace. On the inside I added a 1/4" X 5 3/4" strip of the patterned paper for continuity.

I can't remember the dimensions of this card as I gave it to my mother-in-law for Mother's Day. She is a very special lady. She is my kids' Oma and I still consider her my mother-in-law. The frame for the flowers is some patterned green paper that I cut with my Cricut but you could definitely use a die. To hide where the flowers all come together, I attached a bow. It was a success. She loved it.

This last card is 4 1/4" X 5 1/4". This was actually a hair clip from Dollarama that I took the metal backing off. So simple! I decided that it looked pretty plain so once again I took an ink pad and went around the edges. I slipped up in a couple of places and got some of the ink on the front of the card. You know what the say in card making - an accident is just an excuse for an embellishment! In this case it was an excuse to lightly drag the ink pad over the card stock in some places and it ended up looking so much better! I rounded the bottom edges with a corner punch and put a 1/2" of coordinating coloured daisy card stock down the left side of the inside of the card.
