Good morning!
I thought that I'd pop on as the next few days are going to be busy. On Saturday I'm going to Onstage in Toronto. I am so excited!!! Before I go though I want to make 20 of the penguin Z fold cards cards that I posted in October to make to swap. The demonstrators swap cards to get to know each other and to see some new ideas. I will show you some of the cards next week.
I've showed you the Waterfront stamp before.
The background for this one used the Woodland
Embossing folder.
I got the basic idea for this card off of another web site and made it my own. This is a circle card using the stamps. I cheated and cut the circle card on my Cricut. Each side is a 4" circle. If you have a die that big you can easily make one by running two pieces of paper through your die cutting machine but leave the die off of the plates just a little bit so that it doesn't cut through the pieces. Alternatively, you could trace a template and cut it.
You then cut a full 4" circle, a 3 3/8" circle and a 2 3/4" circle. I stamped the snowman face using the sun for eyes, the thinner end of the straight piece for the nose and the longest tree trunk for the palm trees. Mask off the straight piece depending on how long you want the carrot nose. You might want to try it out on a scrap first to make sure that you have your desired length. TIP: When you are making a stamp don't forget to take off the paper that you used for masking before you stamp!
I used PUMPKIN PIE for the orange colour. When stamping his smile curve the photopolymer stamp a bit and stamp one side and the lining it up stamp the other side. One of the ladies in a workshop that I had only stamped the mouth once and it looked like he had a little smirk. It is whatever you want. then run the three circles through your embossing/die cutting machine using the SUBTLE 3D EMBOSSING FOLDER. You might have to put a shim under the folder as it is one of the new Stampin' Up Embossing Folders and they are not as thick as they used to be, TIP: Stamp before you emboss. It is very hard to stamp on an embossed surface and get even coverage.
Next adhere the biggest circle to the front of the card. It should cover it with a little bit sticking up at the top where the card base is folded. Then using dimensionals adhere the top two circles. Don't be afraid to use a lot of dimensionals as you don't want your snowman sagging down in the middle.
Lastly, tie a knot in some ribbon and just adhere it a little under the top circle. I used glue dots.
This is really an all season stamp. the lady's card I saw used a 3" square card and used the "Z" stamp at the bottom for a scarf. On another card she used the tops of the palm trees as spiders. Extremely creative!!!
We are getting more snow here today. Oh, yeah - not. This is way too early for snow!!!!!!
I hope that you have fun creating,
Mary
