Happy Thanksgiving weekend to all of my Canadian friends! My best friend invited me for dinner with her family last night. It was sooo good and of course the pumpkin pie...well I had seconds!!!
I am very thankful that I have so much to be thankful for. I am most thankful for my 3 wonderful children or should I say young adults.
I made a card for my friend called a book fold card also called a pop up book fold card. I made the same one for my sister-in-law last year. I told you I had a lot to be thankful for!
I have to admit that is not the easiest card to make. It might be easier if you have a paper cutter with a scoring blade on it. Stampin' Up has released their new paper cutter to demonstrators. So far, I have only seen good reviews. They aren't saying when it will be available to customers yet. I will keep you posted.
Now onto the card. I cased this from dianebarnes.blogspot.com. Her blog post is from May 2015. She also created a cutting and scoring template that I will share with you.
I am making a 5 1/2" square size card but there are also tutorials out there that that make a 6" X 6" card. The card base is 5 1/2" X 11" scored at 5 1/2". Since it was a Thanksgiving - Fall card, I used orange. The card pop out insert is 5" X 10 1/2". The template will tell you where to cut and score. The important thing to remember is that there are only 2 cut lines.
I realize that this is hard to read. You might want to visit her blog to see it more clearly. the first line numbers are 3 1/4, 5 1/4 and 7 1/4. the second line of measurements are 1 1/4, 1 1/4, 2, 8 1/2 and 9 1/4. At the bottom it is 10 1/2, the one up from that is 3/4 and the one up from that is 1 1/4. I hope that that helps.
I used yellow for my insert and white for the mats. You will need two 3 X 3 1/4 and two 1/2 X 3 1/4. I used the stamp set from Stampin' Up Sheltering Tree(retired). I stamped on one piece of cardstock that was 7 X 3 1/4 as I wanted some of the stamped image to be on the side panels. I then cut the mats. I stamped the grass in Granny Apple Green and the tree in Soft Suede. I didn't have the Stampin' Up colours yet that I wanted to use for the leaves so I used some ink that I had previously. When you stamp the big leaf bunch stamp it one way in one colour and the turn it around and stamp in another colour. Add the highlights here and there.Adhere them to the insert and then adhere only the sides and the top and bottom up to the first score line. If you adhere more the book will not pop open!
For the front I used the same stamp set and colours but I used some Old Olive for the little tuft of grass. The washi is again from my stash. I cut the word thankful and mounted it on orange. I did the same for the big panel. I put them both up on dimensionals. You can make this whatever size that you want.
Don't you just love the little rake?!
And finally this is just a view of the other side. I added a little butterfly.
I hope that you all have a lovely Thanksgiving and don't forget to tell some that you are thankful for them.
Mary
